Frequently asked questions
How do I make my patch glow brighter?
Leave it in daylight or under a bright light for a few minutes before dark. A larger glow area and bold shapes also give a stronger glow.
What is the minimum order?
You can order from 10 pieces of Glow 3D Embroidery Patches. Larger quantities lower the price per patch.
How is my price worked out?
The price comes from the average of the width and height you enter, rounded up to the next half inch, and the quantity you order.
Which backings can I choose?
You can choose plain backing, Pellon backing, iron-on backing, tape backing, Single Velcro (hook side), Double Velcro (hook and loop), safety pin backing or key chain. Plain backing is included. Any extra cost for the others shows when you select them.
Which backing holds best?
Sewing it on is the most secure option and lasts through regular washing. Velcro is best if you want to remove or swap it. Iron-on is quick for cotton and polyester, but avoid it on nylon, leather and waterproof fabrics.
Which shapes and sizes can I order?
Sizes from 2″ to 12″. You can pick from 39 shapes, or choose Custom shape to have it cut to the outline of your artwork.
What are the patches made from?
Your design is made on a base fabric. You can choose standard twill or flannelette when you order.
Are there any design limits?
Most designs can be stitched. Very small text and thin lines are hard to stitch on patches under 3 inches, so we may thicken or simplify them. Any change is shown on your proof before production starts.
Which artwork files can I send?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) reproduce best. High resolution PNG or JPG files also work.
What if my artwork is not ready yet?
Choose Email later and send your artwork after you order, or choose Get design help and tell us your idea. Production only starts once you approve the artwork.
Do I see a proof first?
Yes. A digital proof is sent for you to check. You can also add a photo sample of the real patch.
Can I see a real sample before production?
Yes. You can ask for a photo of your actual item before we make the full order. The extra cost is shown next to the option.
What extras can I add?
You can add an individual polybag for each piece.
How long does production take?
You choose this at the last step. The standard option has an estimated production time of 12 working days with no production surcharge. Faster options from 5 working days cost more, and a slower option costs less. The date shown is when your order is ready to ship, not when it arrives. If you have a fixed deadline, tell us before you order.
How much is delivery?
We ship to the UK, Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and worldwide. The delivery charge depends on where you are and the size of your order, and it is shown before you place your order. Orders sent outside the UK may have import taxes or duties set by your country. "Included" on a production option means no extra production cost, not free delivery. See our Shipping & Delivery page.
How do I care for my patches?
Wash inside out on a cool cycle and avoid tumble drying. If an edge lifts, a few stitches around the edge will hold it in place.
How does the glow thread work?
The thread soaks up light during the day and glows in the dark. The glow is brightest just after light and fades gradually. It is a fun, eye catching effect, not a replacement for certified reflective safety gear.
Which glow colours are available?
Choose from 12 glow in the dark thread colours at the thread step when you customise your patch.
What makes it 3D?
Parts of the design are stitched over foam to create raised, puffy detail you can feel.
